X Factor Week 8

Paije and Cher in the bottom two last week surprised many viewers but unsurprisingly Cher was saved by the judges and unfortunately Paije had to leave the competition. Now one week before the semi-final the remaining seven acts have two performances each to impress both judges and viewers for the all important votes and here is my opinion on those performances in Rock week!

Wagner – He wishes he was special? He is special alright! Almost a perfect song selection really with lyrics such as “I don’t belong here” and it was strange to see Wagner just standing and singing with no women either side of him for a change. It wasn’t great.

One Direction – Not their best but a good performance none the less. Would be surprised if they don’t make the final with the teenage girls voting strong.

Mary – A powerful first performance from Mary. With the acts getting fewer and fewer she is one of those that I consider to be at risk this week but another alright performance from her, but I do feel we have seen the best of her earlier on in the competition.

Cher – Why is she rapping and not singing! She’s so much better just singing not shouting and rapping. If she doesn’t sing well in her second performance of the night she may be in trouble again.

Rebecca – A good song that she made her own very well. Again she does her usual stand with a mic and sing routine which is getting a tad boring for her now I have to say. She’s a quality singer though and definitely has talent.

Matt – There’s a lot better rock songs I can think of that would have been much more suited for his voice but he still provided a performance that wasn’t bad. It’s a hard song to sing without it sounding karaoke esc though.

Katie – Oh dear I didn’t like that at all. Her voice is just far to soft to sing s rustic Kings of Leon song. It’s definitely down a grade or two from last weeks performance anyway.

Wagner – Oh and there’s the women that were missing earlier. He is just such a poor singer. I’m glad he’s Brazilian because if he was English and he was one of our top talents in the country I’d feel embarrassed. Will his fans stay loyal and keep him in another week?

One Direction – So different from there usual high tempoed performances but so so good. I really liked it. These boys have a big career ahead of them definitely. Simon Cowell’s eyes must be seeing pound signs for sure.

Mary – It reminds me of a fairly good mum on a karaoke machine after a night of drinking too much. It wasn’t a great performance for me and she may be in for the axe one week before the semi-finals.

Rebecca – Wow this time she is standing with a mic singing with 2 girls either side of her standing with a mic singing and dancing more than Rebecca just to make her look even more boring. Judge on vocals, she was pretty good yet again but please please please do something crazy next time and like sing whilst bouncing on a trampoline and shooting T-Shirts into the crowd or something a bit more exciting at least.

Katie – That’s a much better song suited for her voice, a nice soft sung tune. She did seem to try very hard to make it her own which at times was brilliant but others not so much. Much better than her first performance but not quite as good as other performance tonight.

Matt – That is much much better. One of Matt’s best performances in my opinion and this guy just shows his class by giving us the performance of the night. If this is a singing competition then there’s no contest. This guy has the best voice of the bunch and should easily cruise to the semi finals.

Cher – My hope of seeing Cher sing tonight was completely gone as soon as I heard the opening notes. I don’t think someone should be winning the X Factor from rapping and even though it seems to get her more votes I definitely prefer her singing.

I.M.O.

This week if there is to be a doble eviction I can see the two people going being Katie and Mary. I’ve kind of had enough of Wagner though so if everyone’s feeling the same as me hopefully he’ll be one for the chop.
