Another ride I was hugely anticipating to go on was Revenge of the Mummy, the indoor coaster full of secrets. Secrets that I specifically did not find out or read about before I came, just so I could be as surprised as I could be. We entered the queue line, which twisted and turned more times than the Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit, through scary tomb like surroundings and very dim lighting. We approached the end of the line and soon it was our turn to ride, and I genuinely was kind of nervous for what was about to happen.

From the moment we left the station and began the ride to the moment we got off was just full of animatronics, fire, mist, twists, drops and was incredibly unexpected. I was so glad I did not have it ruined for me by finding out the secrets online, and if your planning on visiting Orlando and Universal Studios Florida, then please do leave this to surprise you when you come to ride it.

It was not only fantastic as an attraction, but a pretty good indoor coaster as well, which was another part that did surprise me. A very great ride, which is everything Universal Studios is about. Taking a movie, theming the queue, surroundings and ride amazingly and giving it thrill after thrill to make it a great attraction as well. Brilliant!

After walking past a closed Disaster, which was pretty disappointing, we grabbed a bite to eat, then decided to go on a little boat ride to let our stomachs settle. However, this didn’t turn out to be the nice relaxing boat ride we hoped it to be, and we ended up coming face to face with a great white shark. Another classic, JAWS is another ride I remember from visiting Orlando before, and it is easy to see why as it was still pretty terrifying even at my age.

There was a part to the ride as well where really hot mist came out from the water and into the boat and I did think for a second the ride may have broken because it was really really hot mist! I’m guessing it was part of the ride though because no one but me was panicing, but watch out for that bit if it does always happen to you as well.

After surviving the attack from JAWS (and the mist), it was time to survive another attack, this time from Aliens, in MEN IN BLACK Alien Attack. Another ride I could remember very well, and I was determined to get a great score being 10 years older now. Alien Attack equips oncoming riders with laser guns, which they must use to shoot the Aliens in order to gain points on your scoreboard.

The incredible themed queue was something I could remember, which really does feel like you have walked onto the set of the film. The ride itself is just one of the best shooting attractions around today. The spinning throughout the ride makes it stand out from the others, which usually move round rather slowly. Shooting the Aliens and at other riders vehicles as well is another unique factor I haven’t seen used in other shooting ride, and all of this along with the excellent theming and sounds throughout the ride make it a fantastic attraction in the park.

The Simpsons Ride

After coming out of Men In Black, we could see huge colourful building in front of us like we had walked into the TV screens and landed straight in Springfield, as we were about to go on The Simpsons Ride. The best thing about this for me was the mini episodes shown on the TVs throughout the queue line, which followed the theme of them introducing you to the ride and explaining the safety procedures using Itchy and Scratchy, which you can just imagine was hilarious.

The actual ride itself however I was a bit disappointed with. The Simpsons is a great cartoon because adults and kids can watch it and find it funny, but The Simpsons Ride I thought was aimed too much at kids and for that reason I didn’t enjoy it as much as I would have riding it if I was younger.

It is basically a simulator, which takes you around the new theme park in Springfield called Krustyland. There was some great funny parts to the ride, with the characters being there normal funny selves, but the shakey simulator just kept putting me off. The technology used for the ride to work is very clever though, with a wrap around screen immersing you into your cartoon surroundings, and the smells of babies nappies and candy floss wafting into the room to go with what was on the screen was very clever indeed. Unfortunately I just thought The Simpsons Ride was going to be a lot more than what it was so I felt a bit let down by it.

However this was not going to damping my day! We still had loads more attractions to get round to and go on, so we left Krustyland and made our way round to some of the other great rides Universal Studios Florida had to offer.
