Cher Lloyd : Swagger Jagger

I wasn’t a fan of her on the X Factor last year and if she wanted to turn the opinions of her haters around with her first single, it really hasn’t worked.

The 17-year olds debut single “Swagger Jagger” was Officially shown to the world yesterday, after a leaked version of the song was put online last week.

The lyrics for the song are a constant stream of “get on the floor” and “get your game up” and isn’t even on the back of a good beat or music either, which is basically the tune of “Oh My Darling Clementine“.

The user CarlHighfield on YouTube summed it up perfectly by commenting on the video saying “I’l be the one to say this. Rebecca Black – Friday is better than this.”

The song even after a few listens is still just rubbish. The start shows some promise until she starts her poor rapping that sounds worse than any of her rapping performances on the live shows last year.

The lyrics are actually aimed at her “haters”, with phrases such as “your a hater just let it go” rapped throughout the song, which again will only grow the hate for her further. Not a good move, and in my opinion she should have focussed less on shouting at her haters and more on releasing a great song to turn their views on around.

If this song does even remotely well in the charts it is purely down to the fact that it is Cher Lloyd from the X Factor because if a random artist released this it would almost definitely completely flop.

I think even if the song does do well with her loyal fans behind her, a rethink of the type of music produced for her needs to be done in order for her to become less of an X Factor wannabe music star and into the global music artist she has the potential to be.

Check out the lyric video for the song below. Swagger Jagger will be released on 31st July 2011.
