October used to be the time I was really looking forward to another SAW movie hitting the cinemas. With the last SAW film released in 2010, now it seems Paranormal Activity are taking over the yearly Halloween film for me to see at the cinema, but unfortunately after seeing the trailer I’m starting to think these movies, if any more are going to be made after this, are just the same every year.
The second film released last year, which was a prequel to the first, was still scary and had some cool new elements introduced, but was mainly followed the exact same story line as the first one. Paranormal Activity 3 is a prequel to the prequel and is set around the time Katie and Kristi was a child.
The trailer starts by showing the young girls playing and having fun and ends with them in a dark room saying “Bloody Mary” three times. When they open the door to leave the dark room though we see a figure was behind them, the demon which has been stalking the two girls as we have seen in the previous movies.
With these movies going in reverse order and now we are at the point of the two girls being children, I hope maybe this franchise could be coming to an end. Being a prequel we already know both the young girls will survive in this film, but will anyone else in the family be taken by the demon?
Although I will probably go see this movie for a Halloween scare, I don’t want to keep going to the cinema every Halloween to see these films which are basically the same film with a few tweaks here and there. If this third movie follows the same storyline as the other two then I’m not going to be very impressed and will probably lose all the remaining interest I have in the franchise.
