Movies To Look Forward To In 2011 : Part Two

Welcome to Part Two of the movies you and I should look forward to in 2011. Enjoy the descriptions, enjoy the trailers and enjoy the films when you see them.

Limitless

What would happen if there was a pill you could take that would then allow us to access 100% of our brain instead of just 20%? Well you would become Limitless. This film is about a man who is struggling with a career in writing before he is given a pill by a friend which 100% access to his brain and bestows him with super human powers. As his life changes he then questions where this drug has come from as it is starting to show side affects such as his mind skipping time. Meanwhile a group of people are also spying his every move, wanting some of this top-secret drug. This films plot is very interesting and I’m looking forward to seeing Bradley Cooper star as the limitless man and see how the story of what will happen to him unfold.

The Hangover Part II

The funniest film of 2009 is set to happen all over again in 2011 when The Hangover Part II hits the screens. The only plot we currently have is the the four guys from the first film are travelling away again, but this time all the way to Bangkok for Stu’s wedding. Liam Neeson and Bill Clinton are also making cameos in the film, Neeson as a tattoo artist and Clinton as himself. With not much else released yet about the movie itself we only have rumours as to what these four will get up to this time round, but what we are certain of, is a lot more laughs.

X Men: First Class

I liked the X Men movies and finding out about the X Men discovering their powers for the first time will be interesting to watch. This prequel to the first 3 films is about Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr, before they became Professor X and Magneto and their friendship before they were enemies. Along with other mutants these two best of friends help to stop the greatest threat the world has ever know, but in the process cause a divide between them that will cause them to become the archenemies we know they are is the other X Men films.

Super 8

Being a huge fan of LOST I love J.J. Abrams work and this project should be another piece of fantastic entertainment. Super 8 is being kept a very big secret at the moment with this trailer being the only thing so far we know about the film. It is about a section of area 51 being closed off by US air forces, but while the materials are being transported to a secure facility in Ohio, the train carrying whatever is onboard is stopped by a car crashing into the train. We then get a view of the wreckage and see something in one of the carriages of the train is punching the sides, trying to get out. I’m presuming like most people this will be another alien type film much like Cloverfield, but that we are not even 100% sure of. We don’t even know a release date for the UK yet, only a US date. All I know is, this should be amazing.

Your Highness

Now this film is one that is set to rival the likes of The Hangover Part II in being the funniest film of 2011. The restricted trailer that has been released for the film is just hilarious and one I have blogged about before on this site. Your Highness is about two Prince brothers who go on a quest to rescue one of their brides to be in order to save their land before their kingdom is destroyed. Throw in a few sexual references, drug taking and a not very brave Prince and  you have yourself some comedy gold. The trailer is just amazing and if the film is anything like it then it’s sure to be a very funny film for 2011.

  • Director: David Gordon Green.
  • Starring: Danny McBride, James Franco, Natalie Portman, Zooey Deschanel.
  • UK Release Date: 24th June 2011.

Transformer: Dark of the Moon

Now having not yet seen what I hear is a quite disappointing Transformers 2, I did not really have the third movie in the Transformers series on my list of films I’m looking forward to in 2011… until I saw this trailer. The visual effects in this film look just mind blowing and we don’t even get to see any fight sequences or robots transforming to cars. The film is about the moon landing and how the reason for this great achievement was to actually to investigate a spacecraft that has been hidden on the moon. The findings whilst on the moon could turn the tide in the Transformers final battle.

  • Director: Michael Bay.
  • Starring:  Shia LeBeouf, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.
  • UK Release Date: 29th June 2011

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part Two

After seeing part one in 2010, I am now eagerly anticipating the finale of the Harry Potter series in 2011. I was very impressed with the Deathly Hallows: Part One and the action in the closing scenes of Part Two should make this one even bigger and better. The film continues the story as Harry, Ron and Hermione continue to find and destroy the remaining horcruxes, and they must travel back to Hogwarts to do so. When Voldermort finds out about the young wizards plan, he aims to stop them and the biggest battle the wizarding world has seen, will begin.

Final Destination 5

I love the Final Destination films and although they are without a doubt getting worse and worse as they go on, it isn’t stopping me looking forward to the new inventive ways they can kill off each character in the 5th film in the franchise. This one is about survivors of a suspension bridge collapse who escaped death after listening to Sam Lawton who had a premonition of the events occurring. However in true Final Destination style, death is not going to give up that easily and the characters soon find out that the survivors are being killed off in strange ways, one by one.

  • Director: Steven Quale.
  • Starring: Nicholas D’Agosto, Emma Bell.
  • UK Release Date: 26th August 2011

Real Steel

This future set story is about a world that is bored of the typical human boxing contests, and now thrives upon witnessing the new biggest and most popular sport, robot boxing. Hugh Jackman’s character is a promoter for the sport, who also finds a discarded robot who he thinks he can train up to one day become a champion. Although it may sound a bit ridiculous the trailer shows off the visual effects of the film very well and it also looks like it won’t just be a film on robot violence. Another plot to the story is Jackman’s character discovering he has an 11 year old son, who wants to get to know his father, which may also give this film great emotion.

  • Director: Shawn Levy.
  • Starring: Hugh Jackman, Evangeline Lilly, Kevin Durand.
  • UK Release Date: 7th October 2011

Paranormal Activity 3

There are absolutely no details on the third film in the new halloween franchise that seems to be copying Saw’s theme of a new film every halloween. The second film, although was much the same as the first, did surprise me how it linked together with the first movie and I’m guessing the same path will continue to follow for each one of these they make. It looks set to be the film everyone is going to see on halloween again in 2011.

  • Director: Tod Williams.
  • Starring: Katie Featherston.
  • US Release Date: 21st October 2011
